A double comeback for Chokebore's Hawaiian frontman Troy Von Balthazar, who follows up the reissue of the iconic Black Black with a soothing seventh solo album. Recorded over the course of 2024 in autarky, in his Angoulême home studio, Aloha Means Goodbye is the modest, alleviating work of an artist who has rebuilt himself through his art. Often more acoustic than electric, wandering between light and shadow, these twelve tracks are adorned with melancholy trappings but exude a comforting warmth, like a balm for flayed souls.

Double comeback pour l'Hawaiien Troy Von Balthazar, le leader de Chokebore, qui dans la foulée de la réédition de l’iconique Black Black, sort un septième album solo apaisé. Enregistré au cours de l’année 2024 en autarcie, dans son home-studio d’Angoulême, Aloha Means Goodbye est l’œuvre pudique et apaisante d’un artiste qui a su se reconstruire par le biais de son art. Souvent plus acoustiques qu’électriques, errant entre ombre et lumière, ces douze morceaux se parent d’atours mélancoliques mais dégagent une chaleur réconfortante, comme un baume pour les âmes écorchées.
